John Ritchie, who is a real gem, and for whom I am most grateful for your work of revealing in FREEDOM SEEKERS. Indeed, what you’ve contributed is priceless–you’ve provided a framework for understanding the UGRR in the West. Mitchell G.

In the winter of 1858-59, Brown and his men kill one Missouri slave master, liberate 11 slaves and commence an epic 3 month long struggle though winter storms, the Battle of the Spurs, the birth of a baby and help from America's most famous detective to transport 12 Freedom Seekers from Missouri to Canada.

Stories From the Western underground Railroad

Most people know about Harriett Tubman taking escaping slaves north from Maryland to Philadelphia, but many do not know about the Kansas Abolitionist conducting an organized series of safe houses on a week long trip from southeast Kansas north through the southeast corner of Nebraska then across the Missouri River where they were turned over to the Iowa UGRR network for transport to Chicago.

This website is dedicated to telling that history.
